How did Iraq prepare to receive Ronaldo?
- The Iraqi News Agency reported that the Department of Residence Affairs issued an entry visa for Ronaldo, in order to participate in the match between Al-Shorta and Al-Nasr, which will be held at the city stadium in Baghdad.
- The agency confirmed, quoting a source, that a visa was issued to Georgina, Ronaldo’s girlfriend, to accompany him to his team’s match.
- The Police Club said thatRonaldo He will be in Baghdad with the Al-Nasr team to play the match. The passports of all the players of the Saudi Al-Nasr team have arrived at the administration in order to grant an entry visa, including his passport,” according to the agency.
Change the stadium from Karbala
The meeting was scheduled to take place in the city of KarbalaHowever, the Saudi club requested to change the venue to Baghdad for security reasons, according to Saudi media.
The Iraqi Federation agreed to change the match venue to Al-Madinah Stadium in central Baghdad, while Al-Nasr Club will stay at Al-Rasheed Hotel.
The International City Stadium in Baghdad is scheduled to host the match between Al-Shorta of Iraq and Al-Nassr of Saudi Arabia on Monday, as part of the AFC Champions League elite matches.
A gift of one and a half million bottles of water
The Iraqi Ministry of Interior announced the appointment of 600 volunteers to work on cleaning and preparing the city stadium before the match.
Iraqi Football Association President Adnan Darjal also promised to present a “special gift” to Ronaldo upon his arrival at the stadium.
Darjal appeared asking the stadium officials to provide half a million bottles of water around the stadium, and to provide food carts distributed outside the stadium.
It is worth noting that this is the first time Ronaldo visits Iraq, but he previously faced the Iraqi Al-Shorta Club in the semi-finals of the Arab Clubs Championship last year.
