A docu-film, “Dino Meneghin, story of a legend” is dedicated to the greatest Italian basketball player in history.
The 52-minute documentary by Samuele Rossi, himself a basketball player, “but much worse than Dino…” -aims to fill an important gap in the panorama of sporting stories, highlights the player but also reminds that for three decades, between the 70s and 90s, Italian basketball dominated the courts throughout Europe.
The epic begins in Varese when Dino Meneghin is 16 years old and wears (by chance because it was the only one available) the number 11 jersey, the one that will become his second skin and with which he will compile an endless streak of victories in Italy and in Europe. Only one regret in his career: not becoming the first European in the NBA. When the New York Knicks contacted him, he was recovering from an injury and he preferred to leave the offer aside also because of his connection with Varese. “That means I’m going to try in a second life”he jokes today.
