NORRISTOWN — Several events honoring veterans were scheduled to take place over the next few weeks across Montgomery County.
Montgomery County kicked off Veterans and Military Families Month with a slate of activities scheduled to pay tribute to those who’ve served their country with a flag raising ceremony on Nov. 1 outside the courthouse in downtown Norristown.
“We thank our veterans for their service to our great nation — and to our [Montgomery County] communities,” read a post on Montgomery County’s Facebook page.
The Mater Dei Veterans Day Prayer Service is scheduled to take place at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 8 at St. Stanislaus Church, 51 Lansdale Ave. in Lansdale. A luncheon honoring veterans will follow. Visit the Santa Maria Goretti Catholic Church of Hatfield’s Facebook page to register.
The Conshohocken VFW Post 1074 will hold a series of Veterans Day events on Monday, Nov. 10. The group will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Heroes’ Ground at Miles Park in Lafayette Hill; 11 a.m. at the West Conshohocken Borough Hall; 11:30 a.m. outside the VFW Post 1074, Fifth Street and Wells Avenue in Conshohocken. The VFW Post will open at 12 p.m.
Rep. Joe Webster, D-150th Dist. will host a veteran’s breakfast from 8:30-10:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 22 at Chadwick’s Restaurant and Bar, 2750 Egypt Road, in Audubon. Those interested in attending should call Webster’s office at 484-200-8263 to register.
