Two arrested for Saturday’s incidents in Finikoudes

Two 17-year-olds were arrested on Tuesday in Larnaca and Famagusta to facilitate investigations into a case of conspiracy to commit a misdemeanor, disturbance, breach of the peace and malicious damage, on the evening of October 19, in Larnaca.

Police told the Cyprus News Agency that the two suspects will be taken to court on Wednesday for remand orders.

Three more arrest warrants are pending against three underage foreigners, who appear to have been involved in the incidents.

Police had been informed at around 9.40pm on October 19 of unrest in Finikoudes.

Those involved had left by the time the police arrived.

Police investigations determined that ten young people had got into a fight with five foreigners, possibly tourists, who were dining at a nearby restaurant.

Footage from the restaurant’s cctv led to a testimony against a 17-year-old, who was arrested on October 20 and questioned.

On Monday he was taken to court, which issued a four-day remand order.
