Former President Donald Trump said in an interview broadcast Sunday that he will not run for the 2028 US presidential election if he loses in November.
“No, I don’t see myself as a candidate, I don’t see myself as a candidate,” the 78-year-old Republican said on “Full Major.” “I think that’s going to be it. I don’t envision that at all.”
But he hopes to achieve “success” at the ballot box on November 5 against Democratic candidate Kamala Harris.
Since President Joe Biden withdrew from the race, polls have shown Trump and Harris running very close in several states that will likely determine the winner.
It is well known that Trump never acknowledged his defeat to Biden in 2020, and has repeatedly refused in recent months to pledge to unconditionally recognize the outcome of the upcoming election in seven weeks.
