Trump holding another rally in Reading Monday, traffic restrictions announced

Reading police have announced parking and traffic restrictions ahead of former President Donald Trump’s rally at the Santander Arena on Monday.

The police advisory indicates the time of the rally has not yet been determined but is likely to be late morning or early afternoon.

This will be Trump’s second visit to Berks County during the 2024 presidential campaign. He rallied a crowd at Santander Arena on Oct. 10.

Police said portions of Cherry and Penn streets will be closed Monday at 6 a.m. and remain closed throughout the day.

Parking will be prohibited in those areas beginning at 6 a.m., and any vehicles parked there after that time will be towed.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to avoid driving through the area because of an increase in traffic and congestion.

Cherry and Penn streets will experience closures at various times, police said, and Penn Street and the Penn Street Bridge will be closed intermittently during the event.

Anyone traveling to or from Reading is advised to use alternate routes including the Bingaman Street Bridge, the Lancaster Avenue exit of the West Shore Bypass (Route 422) or Route 12.

Police noted the plan is subject to change.
