The three men who were arrested after a 24-year-old man died in a fire in an apartment block in Mia Milia appeared in court again on Friday.
The trio stand accused of murder and arson, among other charges.
The police’s representative in court Omer Faruk Sengil said two of the suspects had entered the apartment block at around 2.40am on Wednesday “for an unknown reason”, before setting fire to items inside the building.
The fire they started was found to have caused the death of Derrick Bamfo Ampomah, who lived in the building, and caused “serious injuries” to 24-year-old Jonathan Maukle Adjabeng.
Sengil said a total of 30 statements have been taken so far, and that the police would now investigate CCTV footage from the surrounding area.
He added that all three suspects’ homes have now been searched and that their mobile phones have been taken as evidence.
Judge Nuray Cevdet ordered that the trio be remanded in custody for a further seven days.
