During its eighth meeting, headed by His Excellency Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade and Minister in charge of attracting and retaining global talents, the Committee for Attracting and Retaining Global Talents discussed the work plan for the years extending from 2024 to 2027 within the strategy of attracting and retaining talents 2031.

The committee also discussed the latest developments and developments in the completion of existing initiatives and projects.

This meeting comes within the framework of the committee’s ongoing efforts to achieve the goals of the “We are the Emirates 2031” vision and contribute to enhancing the country’s competitiveness on the global stage, by supporting the economy based on knowledge and innovation, and enabling all economic sectors to attract people of high minds and competencies to contribute to achieving the country’s goals in This field.

During the meeting, His Excellency Dr. Thani Al-Zeyoudi stressed the importance of the new phase of the strategy to attract and retain talent 2031, pointing out that the UAE, thanks to the vision of its wise leadership, relies on a comprehensive methodology that includes adopting the best international practices, and working to create an attractive environment to attract talents, bright minds, and highly qualified people from all over the world. around the world and provide the best options to retain them, provide a supportive climate to achieve their ambitions on the one hand, and benefit from their contributions to continuing to stimulate sustainable growth of the national economy on the other hand.

His Excellency said, “Through this new strategy, we seek to transform the UAE into a global platform for innovation and creativity, and make it the first preferred destination for distinguished talents and competencies who aspire to explore new opportunities to work and live in an advanced and sustainable economic environment.”

Al-Zeyoudi praised the spirit of one team, cooperation and innovation that brings together the members of the committee and all parties concerned with implementing the UAE strategy to attract and retain talent, which resulted in the completion of more than 90% of the initiatives announced within the strategy during the previous phase, stressing that the next phase will witness the launch of new qualitative and innovative initiatives that enhance… The country’s attractiveness and retention of talent in the targeted economic sectors, and contributes to achieving the UAE’s vision as a preferred destination for global talent by 2031.

His Excellency said, “Continuing to build the economy of the future in light of the intensification of global competitiveness requires us to think innovatively and work as one team. We are committed to achieving our goals in raising the UAE’s competitiveness and making it a global destination that attracts the brightest talents and minds.”

The committee meeting reviewed the latest global developments in the field of attracting talent, and the best practices adopted by leading countries, in addition to discussing ideas and visions that can be adopted to support the new business strategy 2024-2027, which aims to enhance the country’s capabilities in global competition in the field of attracting and retaining talent, with a focus It focuses on the main areas that contribute to achieving this, such as training and education, enhancing the quality of life, and being fully prepared to attract and retain talent in the targeted economic sectors.

The attendees also discussed the most prominent results and recommendations that emerged from the previous meeting held last May, and updates were provided on the stages of implementing the new strategy, including new initiatives and directions related to enhancing the UAE’s attractiveness to international talent.

Committee members exchanged new ideas and proposals to support achieving national goals in this field.

It is noteworthy that the Committee for Attracting and Retaining Global Talents seeks to achieve its goals within three main axes by the year 2031, which are: First, consolidating the UAE’s position as one of the ten leading countries in the world in talent competitiveness, by enhancing the available capabilities and capabilities and attracting qualified people.

Secondly, ensuring the attraction of strategic talents that contribute to empowering the knowledge economy in the country, thus achieving the UAE’s presence among the top ten countries in the high-level skills index.

Thirdly, consolidating the UAE’s position as a preferred destination for international talent, so that it becomes one of the three leading countries in attracting minds and making it easy to find high-level skills.

The committee includes representatives from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Community Development, the Ministry of Culture, the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Port Security, the Federal Center for Competitiveness and Statistics, the Abu Dhabi Residents Office – the Department of Economic Development in Abu Dhabi, and the Department of Economy and Tourism. In Dubai, the Emirates Scholars Council, and the Emirates Council for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transactions, where this committee was formed based on a decision from the Council of Ministers regarding the national strategy to attract and retain talent in the UAE.
