His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, received a written message from Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, related to bilateral relations between the two countries.
The message was received by His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, when he received Mauro Vieira, Brazilian Minister of Foreign Affairs, in Abu Dhabi yesterday evening.
During the meeting, a number of issues of common interest related to the friendship and strategic partnership relations between the UAE and the Federative Republic of Brazil were discussed, especially with the two countries celebrating this year the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in June 1974.
His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan welcomed Mauro Vieira’s visit, and they discussed cooperation and partnership paths and ways to enhance them in all fields, including economic, commercial, cultural, investment, development, and climate.
His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan stressed that the UAE has developed and growing relations with the Federative Republic of Brazil, and there is a common desire from the two friendly countries to invest all available opportunities to continue the path of strengthening and consolidating this distinguished relationship at various levels in a way that serves their mutual interests and benefits their peoples.
The meeting also discussed the priorities of the Brazilian presidency of the G20, which is being held this year under the slogan “Building a Just World and a Sustainable Planet.”
His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan stressed the UAE’s keenness to participate effectively and distinctively in… G20…and its support for the priorities announced by the Brazilian G20 presidency, which focus on combating hunger and poverty, sustainable development, energy transitions, and global governance.
In a related context, the two ministers discussed during the meeting the overall developments on the regional and international arenas and exchanged views on them.
Following the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan hosted a dinner in honor of His Excellency Mauro Vieira, Brazilian Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the accompanying delegation.
The meeting was attended by Her Excellency Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, His Excellency Ahmed bin Ali Mohammed Al Sayegh, Minister of State, Her Excellency Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, and Saeed Mubarak Al Hajeri, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Economic and Commercial Affairs.
