The giant Chinese-controlled port has attracted investments from Beijing worth $1.3 billion, with billions more expected to be pumped as Beijing and Lima seek to transform the port into a major shipping hub between Asia and South America. The Cosco Shipping Ports Company established the port on Peru’s Pacific coast.
