The Mercury’s Sound Off for Monday, Nov. 18

Are Americans overmedicated? Only two nations allow pharmaceutical companies to advertise their products, New Zealand and The United States. The net effect is that such corporations have inserted themselves between patients and doctors. Their financial influence can be found within the halls of Congress. No one should be surprised if the Trump Administration subjects this industry to significant reform.

M. Furlong

With the election results telling us that half the country doesn’t believe the nonsense that MSM and the leftist Democrats have been telling us the last few years, the question is, “Will they all take a moment and look into the mirror and reflect?” My guess is probably not, shortly we will begin again on their hammering Trump and associates about everything, positive or negative. That is what MSM and the left do.

H John

Ever since the election, it has been so much fun reading Sound Off and watching the liberals go into meltdown mode! This is going to be the best four years ever. Watch as the false accusations and the false rhetoric flow freely and the crybabies rip their hair out! Can’t wait until January!

Puggy

The bumbling Biden-Harris administration blocked the merger of JetBlue and Spirit Airlines due to concerns that the merger would hurt competition. They called their action a win for consumers. Spirit is now declaring bankruptcy, so there are no winners, only losers.

Robert Minninger

Trump has made it clear that his goal for a second term is to toss overboard the rule of law and the international rules-based order, instead turning the U.S. government into a vehicle for his own revenge and forging individual alliances with autocratic rulers like Russian President Vladimir Putin. Congratulations right-wing lunatics, we are now under Russian control due to Trump owing them $1.8 Billion in the bailout he got from Putin in 2016.

Candidates wanted for Trump’s cabinet. No experience is necessary. Just heap praise on him, and above all, show extreme loyalty. You can stumble along with no clue of what you’re doing, but no one will notice. Except all of America, and the world. He’s even filling an imaginary cabinet, the department of efficiency with Elon Musk, because of his millions in donations to the campaign. Get your popcorn, and sit back and watch.

Let’s all try to write about everyday life idiosyncrasies and lay off all the political mumbo-jumbo for one week. all of us will live with whoever got elected and that’s a fact, Jack. We will survive, that’s what we do. America is the best game in town. love it or leave it. ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country!

Big Ben

With the way the Dems, the Washington Elites and the lamestream media are having a meltdown over Trump’s cabinet picks, you can be sure they are great picks for the country! Be glad their heads are exploding over Matt Gaetz’s nomination as Attorney General, and Pete Hegseth’s nomination as Secretary of Defense — a sure sign they are anti-swamp, anti-woke, pro-America picks who will carry out the promises made by Donald Trump to the American people.

Greg Levengood

Rubio: Trump-hater turned suck-up. Pundits can’t understand Trump making him Secretary of State. Simple: Trump thinks him a loser and wants revenge. Rubio can expect plenty of humiliation ahead until he’s fired.

What’s up with Donald Trump appointing so many women to key cabinet and leadership positions within his administration? Kamala and the mainstream media told me he’s a misogynist.

Lefty Lucy

My goodness, Joe Biden is happy these days. The White House meeting of Donald Trump and Joe Biden was like Happy Days are Here Again. Joe Biden looked so happy. It was almost like Joe Biden just won the presidency. I wonder where Kamala Harris was.

Michael Stern

Regarding the Nov. 11 post complaining about an alleged “homophobic” post on Nov. 7. I don’t think that the Nov. 7 post was homophobic and I want to thank Sound Off for printing most posts that I send in. It is free speech. Now is a good time to check out the Archive feature of the digital Mercury and read the Nov. 7 post.

Just like the failed radically progressive Obama presidency ushered in Trump 1.0, the 2024 Democrats, with their similar America-Last policies, once again made it necessary to usher in Trump 2.0. Crippling inflation. Disaster at the border. Catastrophic Afghanistan withdrawal. Hate and divisiveness. Campaign of lawfare. Dementia cover-up. Infecting America with repulsive woke culture mandates. Undemocratically appointment of a candidate whose campaign platform was the promise of another four years same as the last.

Professor Potts

I will take a wait-and-see approach to the “New” Trump administration. He wasn’t able to coerce his pick into the Senate majority leader’s role, select a congressman under investigation for misconduct for Attorney General, or nominate a guy for Secretary of Defense who has no leadership experience. He’s just flinging poo at the wall and seeing what sticks. It looks like loyalty outweighs competence so far.

The Moderate

As the cabinet nominees are announced, it looks like the new season of “The Apprentice” is going to be filled with cliffhangers. Hope you are braced for a nail-biter!

Jay Miller

The twice impeached convicted felon, convicted sexual abuser president-elect Felony Don the Lying Con is at it again. Cons hire cons selecting Matt Gaetz as his Attorney General. A man who is under an ethics violation investigation. This is MAGA.

JR

When the PA Lottery drawing switched to the FOX channel, I quit playing.

Star Light

Actor/director John Krasinski was just named the “2024 Sexiest Man Alive” by People Magazine. I guess Second Gentlemen Doug Emhoff must have been in a different contest. Hahaha!

The Snarky Conservative

Barbara Streisand and other celebrities have promised to leave the USA on the occasion of a Trump win. I know Elon Musk has a big rocket that could send them to the moon.

Billy G.

I never finish anything. I have a black belt in partial arts.

Bill Wilson

A ship doesn’t sink because of the water around it. It sinks because of the water that gets in. The same is true of a country with an out-of-control immigration policy!
