In my opinion, the tragedy of Laken Riley is a bitter pill to swallow. Her illegal migrant murderer gets to spend the rest of his life (alive) in prison while beautiful Laken is dead. Where is the justice in that story?

On Monday Joe Biden pardoned 2 turkeys. So he might as well pardon a third turkey named Hunter.

America, do many families sit down at supper time and discuss the day’s activities with their children? I think those moments are far and few in between nowadays. We have to slow down and talk with and not at the youth of today. Two drive-thru lanes backed up at chick filet and eating too much on the run has got to stop. Just saying, America
Big Ben
You can’t make this up. 1.4 million illegal immigrant criminals have been ordered to leave the USA by our immigration courts. Biden and Kamala Harris have done nothing to begin the deportation of these criminals. The adults will be back in charge come January 20, 2025.

I disagree with Sen. John Fetterman on most things, but I applaud Fetterman for his strong support of Israel and for speaking the truth about the Biden-Harris administration’s disastrous Southern border policies.

Anon. Y. Mus — you obviously don’t understand inflation. Once jacked up by inflation, prices never go down without deflation which is always a bad idea. Individual items like gas and eggs which are affected by but not controlled by inflation may decline but never to the original. Biden gave us permanent higher prices overall. Pres. Trump can stop them increasing and improve incomes but no one outside of a depression makes them actually decline.

Since Trump was elected, the price of eggs has gone up!
My opinion … It would be nice to see thankful, positive, complimentary comments in Sound Off during this holiday season. Instead of the name-calling, and political nonsense that is in each day!
Winnie on Nov. 24. Thank you for your concern for America’s Veterans! Considering Vets are about 1 percent of the population, here’s a possibility: Make all active duty and veterans’ tax exempt from federal and state taxes. That would say thank you to our Veterans and honor them for their service! There’s never a problem sending money overseas or to illegal aliens!
Just the facts!
Why do we have to be subjected daily to the far-left screeds of Washington Post columnists on The Mercury’s Opinion page? Are there no conservative columnists left? American voters have rejected the Democrats and their idiotic policies. Maybe The Mercury can get with it and stop running so many liberal opinions.

I have subscribed to The Pottstown Mercury for 50 years. Although I admit that the publication has never leaned as far right as it does in 2024, it is a publication that accepts the truth from all perspectives. We do live in a democracy.

Glad to see Bob Casey Jr. finally conceded. A recount could swing counts statewide by maybe 100 votes, not 17,000.
The Moderate
A wise person would learn a lesson from the 2024 election. Marxist/Socialist dictators can’t gain control by themselves. They propagandize an army of followers to believe in a glorious, golden future, and to achieve, by any means, no matter how destructive, the end. They are your low-intellect family, friends, neighbors, coworkers. And you. This time, Americans weren’t mesmerized by an unqualified charismatic con woman puppet.
It appears that I had partial “deja vu” all over again as Yogi Berra said when reading Sound Off on Tuesday. I swear I had read some of those Sound Off posts before. Some were worth reading again like Jim Fitch’s but I didn’t need JR’s drivel again.

Just read the story about the Berks County Veterans Affairs office. Never heard of “Military Sexual Trauma” before. Who couldn’t see that one coming? Men and women in close quarters on ships, and in barracks. The term sounds like something from a training session in the corporate world. Is that something like Doug Emhoff slapping his paramour around?

May Jiller: Hate to tell you, but +2.6 million votes (1.7%) out of +151 million, is not a “national mandate”. It’s a slim majority. BTW, who do you think you are, that you can decide what can be permitted in a Sound Off post? A month’s past Sound Offs: Found nothing Miller said “proven” fake. Nor any lib comment to silence right-wingers. But go ahead. Keep making stuff up so we can laugh at it.
After all this time, Netanyahu is still killing people, and destroying towns, villages, and homes. Fortunately, an arrest warrant has been issued for him, for war crimes. He will keep killing until he’s caught, and put on trial, like Nuremberg.
The Mercury has an excellent article on the digital website. The article tells people to not drive impaired over the Thanksgiving Holiday. It is great advice, but I say, never drive impaired even under the legal limit. Nothing good has ever come from alcohol use or recreational marijuana use.

I laughed when I read Democrat Party activist journalist EJ Dionne’s recent Mercury commentary. Apparently, old EJ can’t come to grips with the fact that Trump won because America rejected everything the Democrat Party stands for. EJ is now calling Trump a “Lame Duck” President because he can’t win the presidency after his upcoming term. Old EJ probably called the USA a Lame Duck as well after we won WWII. Dems be tripp’n!

Biden, who likes to call himself a good Catholic, bestowed the nation’s highest civilian honor on Planned Parenthood Head Cecile Richards. She led the country’s No. 1 abortion mill, overseeing the murder of 3.8 million babies, and was caught harvesting baby parts. She should have been convicted rather than rewarded. How does that set with all you Catholics out there? And every other American for that matter.

I taught my kids a lesson about democracy last night. I let them vote on what kind of pizza to have and what movie to see. Then I chose the pizza and the movie — because I’m the one with the money.

Fun fact. Duct tape can’t cure stupidity, but it can muffle the sound.
