A statement issued by the Parliament’s Bureau said after a meeting he chaired Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri “In the general session of the Parliament held today (Tuesday), the date of the election of the parliamentary committees, a quorum was not reached.”
The statement indicated that “the House of Representatives Bureau, based on the provisions of the bylaws and based on precedents adopted by the House of Representatives and legal advice from Dr. Edmond Rabat, ruled that the parliamentary committees be considered existing in accordance with the rule of continuity of institutions until they are elected.”
It was decided to “consider the members of the current parliamentary bureau and committees as a list of all their current members, and to inform the heads and rapporteurs of the committees and their members of the content of this decision.”
