The Italian University of Salerno celebrates the UAE’s humanitarian efforts during “Covid-19”

The honoring, which was held under the patronage of Sergio Mattarella, President of Italy, and hosted for the first time by the historic Queen Regina Hall at the headquarters of the Italian House of Representatives in Rome, included Awad Saghir Al Ketbi, Director General of the Dubai Health Authority, and Sayed Basr Shuaib, CEO and Managing Director of the company. On this occasion, His Excellency the President of the National Media Office, delivered a speech at the ceremony organized by the University of Salerno as part of the “University Medical Days” activities, and was attended by Professor Pio Vicenanza, President of the University, members of its faculty, representatives of the Italian Parliament, and an elite group of scientists and researchers, with the participation of international media. And locally in Italy, where His Excellency conveyed at the beginning of his speech the greetings of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, and the people of the UAE.

His Excellency said: “The one who deserves this award and this honor is the first supporter of us all, the one who overcomes obstacles, meets the impossible, and follows up on all the details, no matter how small, and the problems, no matter how big, is His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.” His Excellency saluted the heroes of the first line of defense, saying: “I also do not forget the unknown soldiers from the first line of defense, as well as the volunteers who presented an inspiring example of dedication and hard work to save the lives of patients in the most difficult circumstances, and embodied the highest meanings of sacrifice and giving, and they are more deserving of appreciation and gratitude.”

His Excellency stressed that his honor by the prestigious Italian Salerno Medical School is, in essence, a tribute to the UAE’s contributions during the Corona pandemic and to the people of the Emirates for their sacrifices, noting that the award symbolizes the values ​​of understanding, international cooperation, peaceful coexistence, and the promotion of dialogue between religions and communities to spread the culture of construction and peace, which are the values ​​that call for The Emirates heralds it.

His Excellency pointed out that what was achieved in the Emirates is a miracle by all standards after all parties concerned with combating the epidemic followed the directives of His Highness the President, may God protect him, to commit to equality in treating the victims of the epidemic, as His Highness considered all residents of the Emirates covered by his generous care, pointing out His Excellency pointed out that His Highness’s famous saying, “Don’t worry about it,” formed the foundation of success in confronting and overcoming the challenges of Corona. His Excellency explained that the UAE, which does not know the impossible, has succeeded with distinction in challenging the epidemic thanks to the solidarity and sacrifices of its people.

His Excellency pointed out that the biggest challenge facing the medical team was the presence of more than 200 nationalities in the country, with multiple and disparate backgrounds, but their trust in the Emirates facilitated their awareness and made them understand all the procedures followed to combat the epidemic.

He continued: What is more, the generous UAE, which is truly considered the humanitarian capital of the world, had the largest share in humanitarian initiatives, and its aid constituted more than 80% of the volume of the international response to the affected countries during the pandemic.

His Excellency the head of the National Media Office explained that the award is a medal for all the unknown and known soldiers in the Emirates and the world, who did not spare time, effort and spirit to confront the epidemic, praising the UAE’s effective contribution globally in combating the epidemic, stressing that the humanitarian spirit and initiative in helping the needy and affected people in the world constitute a strategic direction. In the policies of the UAE, it is a country of love, goodness and giving.

In turn, Awad Saghir Al Ketbi, Director General of the Dubai Health Authority, confirmed that the UAE has provided a role model in confronting the pandemic, and set an example of how to absorb it and reduce its risks, thanks to the directives of its wise leadership, which gave the highest priority to the safety of all residents, citizens and residents, It ordered the provision of everything that preserves people’s health and lives. The UAE was one of the first countries to provide vaccines, and it was also one of the first and fastest countries to recover from the pandemic.

He said: “The Covid-19 pandemic was a difficult test, which Dubai succeeded and excelled in passing, thanks to the generous care given to the health sector by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, and the directives. The right message from His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence.

Al Ketbi added: “In light of this generous care, advanced priority, and great concern for people’s health and lives, the health sector in Dubai has become one of the most important and most developed health sectors in the world, and this became clear during the confrontation of the “Covid 19” pandemic, as Dubai’s ability to build infrastructure appeared. High-level infrastructure, technology and equipment, and highly prepared health facilities, in addition to the strategic stock of medicines and vaccines, and before that the medical competencies and expertise that dealt with the pandemic according to the best protocols in the world.”

In addition, Sayed Basar Shuaib, CEO and Managing Board Member of International Holding Company (IHC), said: “It is a great honor to be honored by the University of Salerno Award during the Italian-Emirati Scientific Day in Rome, and this award not only highlights IHC’s contributions. IHC in the health care sector, but also reflects a journey that began with establishing vital health care infrastructure and systems, whether in the Emirates or in a number of other countries, to improve epidemic risk management.”
