The Israeli army officially announced the killing of Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah, after conflicting news yesterday about Nasrallah’s fate, following the Israeli army’s targeting of the party’s central command headquarters in the southern suburbs of Beirut.
The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation had previously reported that it was not certain whether Nasrallah was inside the central command headquarters at the time of the bombing or not.
Israeli Channel 13 reported that intelligence information confirmed that Nasrallah was at the targeted headquarters, but his fate was unknown, indicating that the Israeli army was verifying his fate.
The Israeli strikes targeted Hezbollah shortly after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pledged to continue Israel’s attacks on Hezbollah, in a speech before the United Nations General Assembly yesterday, amid fading hopes for reaching a ceasefire that could prevent the outbreak of a comprehensive regional war.
