He was mourned by writers, authors and artists from various Arab countries, including Lebanese historian Fawaz Traboulsi, Syrian cartoonist Saad Hajo, and Egyptian poet Zain Al-Abidin Fouad.
Lebanese researcher and translator Saud Al-Mawla wrote on his Facebook page: “On the eve of the anniversary of the Sabra and Shatila massacre, the young man of Palestine, Lebanon and Syria, a lover of revolution and the dreams of the oppressed, dismounts (…) with his heart and soul between Gaza and Jenin.”
child Khoury In Beirut in 1948, he studied history at the Lebanese University, and obtained a doctorate in social history from Paris.
He published his first novel,Circle meetingIn 1975, he wrote the screenplay for the 1977 film “The Little Mountain,” which dealt with the Lebanese civil war.
Among his most prominent works are “The Journey of Young Gandhi” and “Kingdom of Strangers“Yalo”, and the novel “Bab Al Shams”, which was turned into a movie by the Egyptian director Youssef Nasrallah.
Khoury participated in editing several prominent magazines and newspapers, including “Palestinian Affairs,” “Al-Karmel,” and “Al-Safir.” He also served as the artistic director of the Beirut Theater, and was co-director of the September Festival for Contemporary Arts.
