The day after tomorrow.. the beginning of autumn and a gradual decrease in temperatures in the Emirates

T + T – Normal size

September 23 is generally considered the end of summer and the beginning of autumn geographically in the Northern Hemisphere, as the length of the day equals the length of the night, as the sun is perpendicular to the equator, and then the sun begins its apparent movement towards the south of the equator as a result of the Earth’s rotation around the sun.

This period is characterised by rapid and sometimes severe weather changes, meaning that we may witness stable weather conditions followed by a state of weather instability that is sometimes severe and rapid.

The National Center of Meteorology stated that in this season, temperatures gradually decrease, especially at night, according to climate statistics conducted by the National Center of Meteorology.

The highest maximum temperature recorded was 46.3°C in Mizra’a on October 1, 2017.
The lowest minimum temperature recorded was 4.1 on Jebel Jais on November 22, 2009.
Average maximum temperatures range between 29 and 36 degrees Celsius.
While the average minimum temperatures range between 19 and 25 degrees Celsius.

Seasonal temperature forecasts indicate that it will be around average or slightly above average.

Relative humidity increases in the early morning hours, and in the event of stable weather, there is an opportunity for fog or light fog to form in scattered areas, especially in the interior.

Maximum relative humidity ranges between 65% and 85%.
Minimum relative humidity ranges between 19% and 49%.
The average humidity ranges between 52% and 57%.

During this period, the seasonal Indian low begins to recede and the Siberian high begins to advance, affecting the region, especially in the second half of this season. The country is also affected by the passage of low-pressure systems extending from the Red Sea. When it is accompanied by an extension of a low-pressure system in the upper layers of the atmosphere and an increase in the percentage of water vapor in these upper layers, clouds form and then develop, accompanied by rain falling on scattered areas, especially mountainous areas.
The rainfall rate reaches 6.4 mm.

The highest daily rainfall amount was 125.8 mm on November 21, 2013 in Khatm Al Shakla.
The highest monthly rainfall total recorded was 211.4 in November 2013 in Delma. Seasonal rainfall forecasts indicate that it will be around average or below.

The prevailing winds during this period are northwesterly in most areas of the country, turning to southeasterly and southerly on some days. The winds are light to moderate in speed, sometimes active, causing dust and dirt to blow in some areas, especially the interior and southern regions, and may sometimes be laden with dust.

Wind: During this season, the average maximum speed ranges between 21 and 26 (km/h).
The highest wind speed recorded was 117 km/h on October 29, 2012 in Qarnayn.
