An 18-year-old has been banned from entering sports venues for six months after being found guilty of possessing a folding metal bat at a football match and has been ordered to two years of community service.
The teen, aged 17 at the time, was arrested on August 11 at Antonis Papadopoulos stadium in Larnaca, when he was found trying to smuggle the bat into the Anorthosis-Aek football match venue.
He had been taken to the Larnaca police station, where he was charged and released.
On August 12, he was summoned to appear before the Larnaca district court, where he admitted to the charges and was banned from entering sports venues until the date of the trial.
On September 23 he appeared before the Larnaca court, which banned him from entering sports venues for six months, starting on August 12.
The court also ordered the teen carry out community service for two years, of a total length of 100 hours, beginning on September 23.
