It is expected that a large proportion of the contract value will be redirected to the local economy through the “ADNOC“To enhance the national content, which contributes to enhancing growth and economic diversification in the Al Dhafra region.
These projects will accelerate Taziz’s efforts, which aim to create a local supply chain for low-carbon chemicals in the UAE, and also support ADNOC’s strategy for growth and expansion in the field of chemicals and its ambition to become one of the five largest global companies producing them.
Mishal Saud Al Kindi, CEO of Taziz, said that awarding these contracts to construct a number of infrastructure projects is an important step that supports Taziz’s goal to develop a world-class integrated chemicals system to benefit from the growing global demand for low-carbon chemicals and transitional fuels.
He added that “Taziz” has good capabilities that contribute to enabling the implementation of ADNOC’s strategy for growth and expansion in the field of chemicals, and supporting the industrial sector and economic diversification in the UAE through the development of sustainable local value chains.
It is planned that production operations at “Taziz” will begin in 2027, as the company aims to produce 4.7 million tons annually of chemicals by 2028, while “Taziz” will produce a variety of chemical materials for the first time in the UAE, which can later be used. In manufacturing a number of products locally, including building, agricultural and health care materials, which reduces dependence on importing them from abroad and contributes to enhancing national content.
The first phase of “Enhancement” gives priority to the production of six chemicals locally, including “caustics,” “ethylene dichloride,” “vinyl chloride monomer,” “polyvinyl chloride,” “ammonia,” and “methanol.” .
The engineering, procurement and construction contract for the chemical port was awarded to NMDC Group, formerly known as the National Marine Dredging Company, which upon completion will facilitate the export of chemicals and transitional fuels, ensure operational connectivity to regional and global markets and enhance access to imported supplies.
The contract to implement the engineering, procurement and construction works for the chemical plant, which includes storage warehouses, pipelines from the dock to the tanks, an internal pipeline network, and a liquid products storage warehouse, was awarded to Rotary Engineering – Abu Dhabi“, in partnership with Advario, a global leader in energy and chemicals storage and logistics services.
The engineering, procurement and construction contract for the basic infrastructure of the “Taziz” site, which covers an area of 17 square kilometers, was awarded to Al Jimi Contracting Company, including internal roads, security fencing and buildings.
There will be another contract for engineering, procurement and construction work that will include the development of central public service facilities, including a station for transferring electrical power, steam, cooling water and water.
The port and the terminal designated for chemicals will allow the export of products from the low-carbon ammonia production facility with a capacity of one million tons annually and the world-class methanol plant that “Tazeez” is building in the city of Ruwais, in addition to the import of key materials.
The basic infrastructure will ensure easy connectivity and efficient transportation of goods and provide the electrical energy needed by the manufacturing and industrial areas planned to be established on the site.
