His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, confirmed that the completion of the historical dictionary of the Arabic language and the completion of its printing is considered a major achievement celebrated by the Arab and Islamic nations.
This came during the speech of His Highness, which he delivered yesterday morning on the occasion of the completion of the printing of the 127 volumes of the Historical Dictionary of the Arabic Language, at the headquarters of Al Qasimi Publications.
His Highness kindly signed the latest copy of the Historical Dictionary of the Arabic Language, volume No. 127, which includes the letters waw and yaa. His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah announced the launch of work on the “Comprehensive Arabic Encyclopedia,” which will be expanded volumes that include all Arabic terms in various fields of knowledge, to be a comprehensive container for the Arabic language and available to everyone.
In his speech, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah addressed the importance and objectives of the historical dictionary of the Arabic language, congratulating the Arab nation on this great achievement, which is a duty for every individual who belongs to this nation, stressing that the work will continue, because the dictionary specializes in what is called the roots, and it is necessary to reach Al-Thamar, and His Highness said: The Arabic language contains all sciences and knowledge, and this historical dictionary of it is the container that carries them, and that is why we are proud of this language.
His Highness announced the availability of all volumes of the historical dictionary of the Arabic language in the next session of the Sharjah International Book Fair. It will also be available on the Internet for easy access, because it has not been completed to be placed on the shelves of libraries and books only, but for the benefit of people, as the researcher, student, and teacher need it.
His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah explained that the comprehensive Arabic encyclopedia will begin work immediately, and it is comprehensive and includes all Arabic terms in sciences, literature, arts, and media, and there is no Arabic term outside of it except the extraneous one, to prevent distortion and distortion of the language.
His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and the audience watched a video material that covered the stages of completion of the historical dictionary of the Arabic language, from the inception of its idea until the completion of its volumes, and the efforts made by His Highness in pursuit of this achievement.
After the end of his speech, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah toured Al Qasimi’s publications, where he viewed what was contained in the Documentary Exhibitions Section, which includes the handwritten originals of His Highness’s original works, including a manuscript of the book “The Omani-French Relations,” which was published in 1990.
