The agency previously promised to raise $600 million to combat Monkeypox Which was declared a global health emergency in mid-August after a new strain spread from the Democratic Republic of Congo to neighboring countries.

The agency will receive about $314 million from a monkeypox fund established to receive contributions from member states and partners. This amount includes $129 million provided by the pandemic fund.
Cascia said the agency has obtained 4.3 million vaccine doses of more than 10 million doses needed to begin controlling the spread of the disease.
