His Excellency Sheikh Shakhbout bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State, participated in the ministerial meeting under the slogan “United for Peace in Sudan,” hosted by Germany, France, the European Union, and the United States on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in its 79th session, where the participants affirmed their commitment to supporting initiatives Peace, and called on them to facilitate the arrival of humanitarian aid.

His Excellency delivered a speech in which he highlighted the UAE’s call to the warring parties to reach an immediate ceasefire and end the war, and to make efforts to return to the path of the political process to reach a permanent settlement, allow unhindered and safe access of aid, and comply with international humanitarian law. His Excellency stressed the importance of including the needs of women and girls in all aspects of addressing the humanitarian, security and political crisis to achieve peace. His Excellency also stressed that the UAE was and continues to be one of the leading countries to alleviate the humanitarian crisis suffered by the brotherly Sudanese people, as the UAE expresses deep concern about the catastrophic and deteriorating humanitarian situation and the severe food insecurity that now threatens several areas of Sudan with the threat of famine, and is working to alleviate Urging the warring parties to facilitate the access of humanitarian aid to the areas most in need.

His Excellency said: “The UAE worked with its partners during the Geneva talks – and in accordance with the Jeddah Declaration – to reach an agreement to facilitate the immediate and safe transit of urgent humanitarian aid to civilians in need. The UAE also participated in the talks on Sudan that took place in Switzerland within the newly established ALPS platform, “Allied Platform to Promote Life Saving and Peace in Sudan,” which includes: the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United States, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Swiss Confederation, the African Union, and the United Nations. It focused on expanding humanitarian access in emergency situations and respecting international humanitarian law, and an estimated 3,114 tons of supplies reached nearly 300,000 people in Darfur.

His Excellency added: “Since the beginning of the crisis, the UAE has provided more than 230 million US dollars, and allocated 70 million dollars to United Nations agencies and humanitarian and relief organizations. It has also provided 30 million dollars in support to countries neighboring Sudan, bringing the value of the aid provided during the ten years to more than 3.5 billion dollars.” . It also sent 159 planes to deliver about 10,000 tons of aid to Sudan, in addition to the visit of an Emirati delegation to Chad and the announcement of 10.25 million US dollars to help women affected by the conflict in Sudan, in addition to the construction of two field hospitals in Chad that provided health care for more than 46 thousand people. Sudanese refugees.

His Excellency said: “The UAE’s position is firm and represents the necessity of reaching an immediate ceasefire, as there is no military solution to the conflict, and that the Sudanese parties must work to find a peaceful solution through dialogue, in a way that achieves for the brotherly Sudanese people their well-deserved ambitions.” In development, security and prosperity.”
