Seabed surveys for interconnector to proceed

Seabed surveys for interconnector to proceed

Seabed surveys for the Cyprus-Greece leg of the Great Sea Interconnector (GSI) will imminently proceed upon receipt of instructions from the providing company [Admie], the energy minister stated on Wednesday.

Speaking to media after a cabinet meeting, Giorgos Papanastasiou stated that discussions about the GSI were complete and that a specific timetable had been set for the underwater surveys.

“At the moment the arrangement [is] complete, after the decision of the two regulators last Monday for a 50:50 [risk adoption] in case of termination of the project,” he said, referring to Admie and the Cypriot state taking on the fallout of any geopolitical adverse events equally.

Papanastasiou added that Nexans, the cable construction company had resumed its operations.
