The Law Commissioner’s Office on Friday announced that representatives from the Law Commission of England and Wales will visit Cyprus from November 4 to 6 as part of a collaborative effort with law commissioners from other countries.
The visit will include the chair of the Law Commission of England and Wales, Sir Peter Fraser, and the First Parliamentary Counsel and Permanent Secretary Jessica de Mounteney, along with other officials from the Law Commission.
The programme includes joint meetings between representatives of the two offices at the Legal Service’s headquarters, the Supreme Court, and the Law Commissioner’s Office.
On the second day of the visit, the Law Commissioner’s Office will host a training conference titled “Reviewing the Law through the Lens of the Law Commissioner’s Office and the Law Commission of England and Wales.”
Supported by the Cyprus Bar Association and the Press and Information Office, the conference will be held on November 5 at the Leventis Gallery in Nicosia.
The conference aims to provide training for civil service officials, lawyers, legal professionals, and academics in the field of law revision. Topics will include bill drafting, the overall methodology of legislative drafting, and the importance of law review.
