POTTSTOWN — A little thunderstorm could not stop the sixth annual Fete en Blanc, the traditional event Sept. 8 at which those attending all dress in white to mark summer’s passing and autumn’s arrival.
Peggy Lee-Clark, executive director of Pottstown Area Economic Development, one of the organizers of the event, told borough council last week that the event was almost rained out.
“A few of us decided to go ahead and everyone else thought we were crazy. And then we got there and found apparently there were more than 600 people as crazy as us,” Lee-Clark said

Tables and chairs were wiped down, the clouds parted and the party went on.
Fete on Blanc, which means “Party in White” in French, was held in Pottstown’s Smith Family Plaza, where a sold-out crowd of 750 guests from the borough and surrounding municipalities enjoyed picnic dinners, live music, and camaraderie.
Music was provided by the High Street Swing Company, featuring Ana Kai Ney on vocals, Louis Rieger on bass, Pio Voluntade on drums, and Ben Bullock on piano.
Sponsors were National Financial Network; Monastra and Grater LLC, Traffic Planning and Design Inc., Wolf Baldwin & Associates; Grandifi Enterprises, ROG Orthodontics, Steel River Playhouse, VFC, Corporate Images and Team Sports, Three Daughters Inn, Valley Forge Tourism and Convention Board, and Mark and Kelly Wolfrey.
Beverages were sold on-site by Kiki Vodka and Manatawny Stillworks. Dani Bee Funky provided flowers, headpieces, and centerpieces; Lady Liberty provided Fete hairstyling specials; and Once Upon a Time Consignment Boutique for curated a selection of beautiful white attire and accessories.
