Putin hopes that the BRICS group will turn into a strong entity that competes with the West in politics and trade at the global level. The group expanded to include Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran andThe UAE In addition to its members, Brazil, Russia, India and…China And South Africa.
Russia is scheduled to host the group’s summit in Kazan from October 22 to 24.
“The member states of the group are the main engine of global economic growth. In the near future, the BRICS group will achieve the main increase in global GDP,” Putin told a group of officials and businessmen at the BRICS Business Forum in Moscow.
“The economic growth of the BRICS member states will depend less on external intervention or influence. This basically means economic sovereignty,” Putin added.
Moscow presents the summit, which will be held next week, as evidence of the failure of Western efforts to isolate Russia because of its war in Ukraine.
On Friday, China, India and the UAE confirmed their participation in the summit.
