Jordan’s role in efforts to provide humanitarian assistance to the civilian population of Gaza was praised on Monday by President Nikos Christodoulides, who told King Abdullah II of Jordan that Cyprus’ Amalthea sea corridor was at the disposal of the international community.
In a written statement, government spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis said Christodoulides met with the King of Jordan on the sidelines of the UN general assembly in New York.
During the meeting, he had the opportunity to discuss Jordan’s participation in Med9, the upcoming Cyprus-Greece-Jordan trilateral summit, regional developments, bilateral relations and developments in the Cyprus problem.
They also addressed issues related to regional cooperation, either on a trilateral level between the two countries and Greece or the EU, as well as energy and defence matters.
Christodoulides confirmed the participation of King Abdullah in the Med9 summit scheduled for October 11 in Cyprus, as well as in the trilateral summit on November 27.
The president furthermore thanked King Abdullah II for his country’s principled stance on the Cyprus problem.
