Police repeated a warning on Tuesday about a WhatsApp scam where criminals pretend to work for online bank.
The warning was reissued after police said they received multiple reports regarding the scam.
The scammers ask people to share their ID information and bank cards during a video call supposedly to assure the safety of their bank accounts.
They also ask them to confirm the safety of their bank account by verifying the transaction, through their bank institution app. When people follow their instructions, money is stolen from their bank accounts.
Police call on the public to not respond to the calls and not reveal any sensitive information to other people.
If any bank details were disclosed to the scammers during a call, this should be immediately reported to banks to avoid unwanted use of the information and ensure available cash balances.
