A police probe has been launched after an unidentified man’s body was discovered.
The deceased person was pulled from the sea yesterday just before 3pm near Dover.
Volunteers from the RNLI, officers and HM Coastguard were at the scene.
The circumstances around the death and the identity of the man are still being investigated.
A police spokesman said: “We were called to Dover Lifeboat Station at 2.54pm yesterday after the body of a man was recovered from the English Channel by the RNLI and HM Coastguard.
“Enquiries are underway into the circumstances and to identify the deceased.”
It comes after a rescue operation on Monday evening.
Two bodies were later discovered adrift in the water near Calais.
French authorities rescued 51 people after the boat they were on suffered an engine failure.
