Photos: Fire & rescue truck struck in Interstate 40 crash in Davie County

DAVIE COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — A fire & rescue truck was struck by another vehicle while responding to a crash on Interstate 40 in Davie County on a snowy Tuesday morning, according to Smith Grove Fire & Rescue.

On Tuesday morning, firefighters were told about a crash on I-40 East near Mile Marker 181.

At the scene, officials found a tractor-trailer on eastbound I-40 and two cars on westbound I-40 that were involved in the crash.

While operating the scene, another vehicle that was driving westbound on I-40 crashed into a Smith Grove Fire & Rescue truck.

Firefighters say that no one was injured in the crash involving the squad truck and encouraged drivers to “slow down and move over” when they see emergency vehicles.

There is no word as to the status of anyone involved in the initial crash.

A Minor Special Weather Statement was in effect in Davie County due to slick and frozen roads. The warning made specific mention of the conditions on I-40.

There have also been several crashes on I-40 in both Forsyth and Guilford County.
