An exciting music event is coming to Paphos this weekend, bringing together a handful of musicians. The Un-Silent Place is a multi-dimensional work for Piano Trio and String Quartet which will treat Paphos audiences to a night of melodies.
Held at Markideio Theatre on Sunday, the performance combines a variety of musical influences that crystallise into a solid, pure personal sound of the pianist and composer Stathis Anninos.
On stage with the pianist will be leading musicians of the Greek jazz scene as well as the outstanding Cyprus String Quartet, consisting of distinguished female musicians of the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra. Namely, the Piano Trio (Stathis Anninos on keyboard, composition and orchestration, Kostis Patsiotis on double bass, Dimitris Klonis on drums) and the Cyprus String Quartet (Ayse Karaoglan, Anna Wrobel, Kumiko Okutomi and Miranda Papaneocleous will perform on the evening.
“The music evolves with a cinematic feel through intense sound ‘images’ and mixes the rich timbres and lyricism of strings with the dynamic sound of a Piano Trio, creating unpredictable and interesting admixtures from a wide range of classical music from Baroque till the 20th century, while through improvisations, it expands by conversing with jazz, third dream, minimalism and world music. The cinematic atmosphere that distinguishes the music encourages the listener to reconstruct his or her own images and indulge in an adventurous sonic journey,” organisers say.
