CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A Charlotte woman is charged with felony insurance fraud after an incident last June, according to North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey.
On June 24, officials say 24-year-old Zsadella Kassandra Burris, who lives in east Charlotte, made false statements to State Farm by claiming a stolen necklace was her’s with an internet photo of a receipt.
Burris was arrested on Nov. 8 but was released after posting a $25,000 secured bond. She appeared in court on Nov. 12.
“Insurance fraud hits consumers in the wallet,” Commissioner Causey said. “Approximately 20 cents of every insurance premium dollar goes to covering the cost of fraud. I’m fighting this by aggressively pursuing and prosecuting insurance fraud in North Carolina.”
