New performing arts festival for children arrives

The Mitsikouri International Performing Arts Festival for Children and Young People is about to begin bringing 10 theatre, dance and music performances for children to Nicosia, Limassol and Lefkara. Viewers as young as a couple months old to 18 are the target audience for the festival, which runs from Saturday to November 3 with local and international productions.

Unique, colourful, playful and exciting performances from the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Cyprus, Lithuania, Ireland, United Kingdom, Greece, Iceland and Finland will take place.

The festival aims to introduce the young Cypriot public to contemporary trends in the global performing arts field made especially for children, as well as to offer moments of emotion, magic and laughter for the whole family. With inclusion being the theme of this first edition, most of the productions to be presented belong to the category of non-verbal theatre, making them accessible to children of all backgrounds.

The performances will take place in seven different venues in Nicosia, Limassol and Lefkara. Details and tickets for each performance can be found on the SoldOut Tickets website (for Nicosia and Lefkara) and on the Rialto Theatre website (for Limassol).

The festival will also feature a rich parallel programme with workshops, discussions and lectures. These activities will be aimed at children, parents, art professionals and educators.
