His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, yesterday visited the headquarters of Al Mariah Local Bank in Abu Dhabi, and was briefed on the bank’s achievements and future plans.
He was received by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Mariah Local Bank, Tariq Ahmed Al Masoud, and the Board Members: Imran Al Khoori, Khalid Thani Al Rumaithi, Younis Fateh Ali Al Khaja, the Bank’s CEO, Mohammed Waseem Khayata, Dr. Tayeb Al Kamali, and Sultan Karmostaji.
Tariq Ahmed Al Masoud provided an explanation of the bank’s latest products, services, achievements, and future plans, in addition to the strategic Emiratisation initiatives, which aim to support and encourage the effective participation of UAE nationals in the banking sector, in line with the country’s economic development and workforce goals.
His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak listened to a comprehensive explanation of the bank’s journey since its establishment in 2021, and its latest products, which included the digital wallet linked to the local debit card “Jiwan”, and the local digital Al Maryah Bank wallet, which is the first local digital wallet in the country to use the decentralized chain technology “Blockchain” enhanced with QR technology and linked to the local payment system.
He also reviewed the Itqan – Comprehensive Digital Banking Programme, a modern digital training programme in the field of banking and financial services to empower and equip skilled new Emirati graduates with practical experience in this field.
