Emergency crews were called to the scene but Michael, commonly know as Mike or ‘Lidderz’, died at the scene.

The 49-year-old businessman’s family paid tribute to him, saying he was “well-known” by many.

They added: “Mike had two children, a son and a daughter aged 13 and eight whom he adored and would do anything for.

“He loved his Mother Kay, his late father Tony and late sister Joanne, his aunts, uncles and cousins more than anything and would always be there at the drop of a hat if ever he was needed.

“He was a successful businessman as a Chartered Surveyor and Property Manager and had a life long love of motorcycles, football, golf and racquetball.

Both lanes had to be closed while emergency services worked at the scene – with roads only reopening in the early hours of the following morning.
