The minister stated before Parliament that the increase in tax revenues and government financial reform will contribute to reducing the deficit to three percent in 2026, which will mitigate the impact of the increase in spending on social security networks, housing aid, health, and education.
She added that growth is expected to rise to 4.6 percent next year from 3.3 percent this year, assuming an average grain crop, high foreign demand for Moroccan goods, and growth in the non-agricultural sector.
She added that the total spending to subsidize the prices of cooking gas, sugar, and wheat will reach 16.5 billion dirhams ($1.7 billion) in 2025, as the government continues its gradual reduction of subsidies.
The minister added that the draft budget law also provides an exemption from income taxes for monthly salaries below six thousand dirhams to enhance the purchasing power of families.
She said that the government will also cancel the value-added tax and customs duties on imports of live livestock, sheep, goats, and camels, as well as meat imports from January until December next year, in addition to canceling them for brown rice and virgin olive oil, in order to ensure low prices in the local market.
She stated that the government allocated 18 billion dirhams to confront drought in order to build three new huge dams and water desalination plants, pointing to a plant Casablanca Which will have an annual capacity of 300 million cubic meters of fresh water by 2028.
