Montgomery County Fire Companies host Fire Prevention Week events

Montgomery County Fire Companies host Fire Prevention Week events

MONTGOMERY COUNTY – Did you know roughly three out of five fire deaths happen in homes with either no smoke alarms or no working smoke alarm? This is why the fire companies of Montgomery County will promote this year’s Fire Prevention Week campaign, “Smoke alarms: Make them work for you!” by hosting family-friendly events.

The campaign, which runs from October 6-12, works to educate everyone about testing smoke alarms and where to install them. Smoke alarms should be installed in every room, outside each sleeping area (like a hallway) and on each floor of your home. For more smoke alarm safety tips, visit www.montcofirefighters.org/fire-safety-resources/.

“Fire Prevention Week is great time to raise awareness and share critical, life-saving facts about fire safety,” said President of Montgomery County Fire Chiefs Association George Wilmot III. “It’s also a great time for community members to meet their local firefighters and learn more about their community’s fire company.”
