The document, which Kan Radio reported was a leaked proposal written by Washington, stated: Israel will withdraw its forces from Lebanon Within the first week of the sixty-day truce.
This is largely consistent with details reported earlier by Reuters based on two informed sources.
Mikati said that he did not believe that reaching an agreement was possible until after the US presidential elections, which will be held next Tuesday. But he said he became more optimistic after he spoke on Wednesday with Amos Hockstein, the US special envoy to Lebanon, who is scheduled to visit Israel on Thursday.
Mikati told the Lebanese Al-Jadeed TV channel that Hockstein explained during the call that an agreement could be reached before the end of the month and before November 5.
Mikati stated that it is possible that a ceasefire will be reached in the coming hours or days.
The draft published by Kan Radio was dated Saturday. White House national security spokesman Sean Savitt said: “There are many reports and drafts circulating. They do not reflect the current stage of negotiations.”
But Savit did not respond to a question about whether the version published by Radio Kan at least formed the basis for further negotiations.
Kan Radio reported that the draft had been presented to Israeli leaders. Israeli officials have not yet commented.
