The labour ministry submitted a mediation proposal on Monday aimed at renewing collective agreements for concrete workers.
Amid weeks of strikes and negotiations, Labour Minister Yiannis Panayiotou said employers and concrete workers had until 8am on Wednesday to respond.
“They will be responsible and respond positively so that the economy can continue to develop.”
The minister explained the proposal includes terms aimed at improving working hours, as well as annual pay raises.
There is also an improved calculation surrounding overtime pay.
“Restoring normalcy in the concrete production industry is key to operate the construction sector and keep Cyprus’ economy active.”
Panayiotou said after a lot of negotiations, many of the differences were bridges between both sides, though they could not agree on a final decision.
As such, the ministry submitted a mediation proposal aimed at renewing collective agreements until 2027.
