The National Museum of Industrial History has presented its Spirit of Innovation Award to the Manufacturers Resource Center. The nonprofit Manufacturers Resource Center, based in Allentown, serves manufacturers looking to enhance their productivity and technological advancements, according to a press release.
The award was presented at the museum’s 2024 Gala on Sept. 14, and recognized Manufacturers Resource Center for its contributions to workforce development and youth empowerment through the What’s So Cool About Manufacturing Video Contest, the PA Dream Team, the Inside Manufacturing Video Series, and Manufacturing Day.
“We are deeply honored by this recognition and thankful to the generous sponsors, attendees, and the Museum’s dedicated staff, board members, and volunteers for making this evening truly special,” Rich Hobbs, president and CEO of the Manufacturers Resource Center, said in a statement.
The National Museum of Industrial History, located on the SteelStacks campus on the former Bethlehem Steel site in Bethlehem, is affiliated with the Smithsonian Institution. The museum houses more than 200 artifacts from across the world. The main gallery features 21 artifacts on loan from the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History. Included in the exhibit are examples of massive machinery, including a 115-ton Corliss steam engine, a 20-foot-tall steam hammer, and examples of what the life of a factory worker was like in the early 1900s.
