Man wanted in Germany for kidnapping arrested in Cyprus

A 35-year-old man wanted in Germany in connection with a kidnapping case was arrested on Friday at Larnaca airport.

Police said the man arrived at Larnaca just before 5pm on Friday and during a passport check he was found to be wanted in Germany in connection with a case of kidnapping, illegal detention and hostage-taking.

The crimes were committed in Germany and Denmark in 2023 and 2024.

The German authorities had issued a European arrest warrant against him.

A temporary arrest warrant was issued by the Cypriot authorities and the man was placed in custody pending his extradition to Germany.

Larnaca police are continuing investigations.
