A 30-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a theft from a mosque in Larnaca.
Larnaca police were informed at around 2.30pm on Wednesday that the man, speaking Arabic, had entered the mosque, made a fuss and stolen property.
According to the Cyprus News Agency, the hodja of the mosque told the police the suspect had been visiting the mosque during prayer time and had been stealing various items belonging to the place of worship.
An arrest warrant was issued and the man was found at 11pm and arrested.
The suspect, who is Syrian and holds a subsidiary protection residence permit, will be taken before the Larnaca district court on Thursday.
Police are continuing investigations.
