King of Jordan ‘looking forward’ to Cyprus visit

King of Jordan ‘looking forward’ to Cyprus visit

King Abdullah II of Jordan said he is “looking forward” to his next visit to Cyprus, which will take place before the end of the year.

Receiving the credentials of Cyprus’ new ambassador in Amman Sevag Avedissian, he conveyed his “warm greetings” to Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides and spoke of the “cordial and multidimensional relations” between Cyprus and Jordan.

He then added that he is “looking forward” to his next visit to Cyprus, before speaking about the efforts his country is making to reach a solution to the ongoing crisis in the Middle East.

He also said his country is doing its best to “address the enormous humanitarian needs” of Gaza.

Avedissian conveyed Christodoulides’ “heartfelt greetings” to King Abdullah and underlined the Cypriot government’s “will to further strengthen and deepen relations and cooperation between the two countries”.

This, he said, will be done “both bilaterally and within the framework of tripartite cooperation with Greece”.

He then added that Christodoulides is also “looking forward” to King Abdullah’s visit.

Avedissian has also been designated as Cyprus’ non-resident ambassador to Iraq, having previously served as the country’s ambassador to Syria.
