His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, held a meeting yesterday in Guangdong Province with leaders of the Shenzhen Municipal Government, as part of His Highness’s visit to the People’s Republic of China.

During the meeting, His Highness discussed with senior leaders and officials of the Shenzhen Municipal Government ways to enhance cooperation relations in various sectors, and held high-level discussions with them to learn about the city’s development experiences and explore opportunities for trade and mutual investment between the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah and the city of Shenzhen.

The day before yesterday, His Highness the Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah witnessed the signing of a cooperation agreement between Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zones Authority (RAKEZ) and Longhua District in Shenzhen.

During the meeting, His Highness invited government officials and business leaders in Shenzhen to visit the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, with the aim of strengthening cooperation relations and enhancing mutual understanding.

His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi said: “We have a clear vision for the future, which is to empower our children, adopt advanced technology, and involve the countries of the world in our quest to achieve sustainable development. We firmly believe that by strengthening cooperation between the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah and various Chinese cities, we can formulate a new investment landscape that is characterised by growth, inclusiveness, sustainability and globality.”

On the other hand, His Highness met with a number of business leaders and officials of major leading Chinese companies.

During his meetings, His Highness discussed ways to enhance cooperation relations and the growing strategic economic partnership with China, and exchanged talks with them about the investment and trade opportunities provided by the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, for the growth and prosperity of businesses in various fields.

During his meetings with leaders of Chinese companies, His Highness touched on the depth of the historical trade relations between the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah and the People’s Republic of China, which date back to the era of the Chinese Yuan Dynasty in the 13th and 14th centuries. His Highness noted the continuous growth process in the emirate in various sectors in recent years.

His Highness also spoke about his insightful vision for creating a sustainable economic environment in the emirate, based on the importance of enhancing strategic investment, while preserving the emirate’s unique cultural heritage, to ensure the prosperity and flourishing of all its people.

His Highness met with senior executives and decision-makers from Huawei, China Railway Construction Corporation, China Road and Bridge Corporation, Shenzhen Capital Corporation, Cathay Capital Group, DG.com, Xiamen Airlines, King Long Bus, Nexperia Semiconductor, Jianhua Building Materials, and Hytera Communications.

During the meetings, His Highness stressed the importance of joint work to achieve common goals and interests, and formulate a new investment landscape characterised by growth, inclusiveness and sustainability, and ensuring prosperity for both sides.

His Highness visited a number of historical and cultural sites in the cities of Xiamen and Dongguan.

The sites and landmarks His Highness visited included Gulangyu Island, in Xiamen City, Fujian Province, which is listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List and is famous for containing the only piano museum in China, and for being a former residence for Western residents.

His Highness also visited Dongguan City, Guangdong Province, where he learned about its history, culture and economy, by touring the Dongguan Exhibition Centre and the Oud Museum, which displays different types of oud with a distinctive aromatic scent. The city has been famous for growing these trees for centuries.

His Highness the Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah stressed that history and culture are two fundamental pillars for understanding the past, present and future of peoples and nations, praising the depth of relations that link the UAE in general, and the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah in particular, with the People’s Republic of China, which extend back centuries.
