Johann Strauss Operetta coming to Cyprus

The winter months, if we can call them that, are packed with festive and joyous events. Christmas markets, carols, performances by the island’s most esteemed artists and upcoming stars fill the cultural agenda. Most of them peak by the end of the year but fear not, the arts world will remain alive after the holidays as well. A remarkable concert is coming up in mid-February with the Vienna Schoenbrunn Palace Orchestra bringing melodies by the Waltz King.

The case is none other than Johann Strauss, a renowned composer best known for his Viennese waltzes and operettas. 2025 marks the bicentenary of his birth and so, the Vienna Schoenbrunn Palace Orchestra -Strauss Virtuosi honour him by presenting his music to audiences around the world.

Listeners in Nicosia and Limassol will get to enjoy Strauss’ most acclaimed masterpieces on February 15 and 16 respectively, performed by top-class soloist musicians of the highly professional and internationally acclaimed orchestra. The concerts will include highlights from the operettas and the most enchanting Melodies of The Waltz King, with the famous piece The Blue Danube remaining an iconic symbol of Vienna and Johann Strauss.

Audiences will also enjoy arias and overtures from the masterpieces such as the popular operetta Die Fledermaus, The Gypsy Baron, A Night in Venice and Viennese Blood.
