Japanese stock indices fell at the end of the morning trading session on the Tokyo Stock Exchange on Monday.
The 225-share Nikkei benchmark index lost 1,849.22 points, or 4.64%, to reach 37,980.34 points at the end of the morning session at 1130 am (0230 GMT).
The broader Topix index also fell by 90.32 points, or 3.30%, to reach 2650.62 points.
