Donald Trump, the Republican Party candidate for the US presidential elections, confirmed that Israel will cease to exist within two years if Democratic Party candidate Kamala Harris wins the US presidential elections.
Trump said yesterday that if he loses the November 5 election to Harris, the blame will fall partly on Jewish voters.
Speaking at the Israeli American Council’s National Summit in Washington, the former president lamented his dwindling support among American Jews compared to Harris.
He said that Israel would likely cease to exist within two years if Harris won the election, and that Jews would be partly responsible for this outcome because they tend to vote Democratic.
He added: “If I do not win this election, the Jews will have a hand in it if it happens because if 40 percent, I mean 60 percent of the people vote for the enemy, then in my opinion Israel will cease to exist within two years.”
Trump was referring to a poll that he said showed Harris had won 60 percent of the vote among American Jews.
He also expressed his dismay at receiving less than 30 percent of the vote among American Jews in the 2016 election, which he won, and the 2020 election, which he lost to President Joe Biden.
It was not clear which poll the former president was citing, but a recent Pew Research Center poll found that American Jews preferred Harris to Trump, 65 percent to 34 percent.
Trump made similar comments at a separate summit in Washington earlier Thursday, which was dedicated to combating anti-Semitism in the United States.
