Hunters warned to obey law ahead of season

Hunters warned to obey law ahead of season

Hunting season starts on Sunday and the Game Reserve Fund has sent out a plea to all hunters to follow the rules and show respect to property.

It reminded hunters that recording their catch on ArtemisCy app is mandatory before leaving each hunting site.

If accessing the app is not possible, hunters can send an SMS with their ID number and game details to Nicosia 99201081 or 99201231, Limassol 99201258 or 99201503, Paphos 99201946 or 99202286 and Larnaca/Famagusta 99202463 or 99203228.

Hunters are also required to move in small groups, forbidden from hunting in forbidden areas and must also carry their hunting and firearm licences.

Hunting hare, partridge and pheasant is allowed every Sunday and Wednesday from November 3 till December 22, and on December 27 and December 29.

The game limit per hunter per hunting day is one hare, four partridges and one pheasant. Other game is not restricted.

Hunters must carry all relevant licences with them at all times and wear protective gear and high-visibility clothes defined by law.

The Game Reserve calls on all hunters to avoid hunting near built-up areas or isolated houses.

Violations carry fines from €2,000 to €25,000.

Hunters are also called on to refrain from posting their hunting activities on social media.
