The state health services (Okypy) is carrying out a disciplinary investigation over its CEO for the Larnaca-Famagusta directorate after allegations of inappropriate conduct, it was reported on Thursday.
There is a “toxic and vengeful environment” which is reminiscent of the “the Middle Ages, and times of slavery and dictatorship” an unsigned letter of complaint sent to the president, health minister, ombudswoman, gender equality commissioner and Okypy said.
Numerous complaints have been filed both verbally and in writing, according to daily Politis.
Moreover, the CEO’s behaviour has had an impact on the mental and physical health of employees “more so the female member of staff”.
“To date, no one has taken any measures to deal with this, even though everyone knows about the situation.”
Okypy told the paper it has received written complaints over his inappropriate conduct and referred the allegations to the two committees for investigation. One relates to gender equality and another on investigating conduct.
The former deals with allegations of harassment and sexual harassment, while the latter of any inappropriate conduct.
A spokesperson for Okypy was not immediately available for comment.
