Herbein + Co. Inc. a Berks county-based CPA advisory firm, has announced the acquisition of Bumpers & Co., a full-service accounting and advisory firm. The transaction was effective on Oct. 28, the company said in a Tuesday announcement.
This acquisition aligns with Herbein’s strategic plan to expand its presence by establishing its first location in Delaware, while continuing to service clients throughout the United States and worldwide, the company said in a press release.
Based in Wilmington, Del., Bumpers & Co. has established a strong reputation for more than a century for providing top-tier accounting, auditing, tax, and management advisory services to individuals, small businesses, and professional clients.
As part of the transaction, Douglas S. Kook, managing partner and Chadwick J. Milton, director at Bumpers will join Herbein as partners, along with their team of 18 professionals. Once the acquisition is completed, the Bumpers & Co. team will remain at its current location, which will become a new Herbein office.
“We are very excited for the Bumpers team to join Herbein, and the possibilities that lie ahead are immense. We look forward to working with the Bumpers & Co. team to help clients succeed with confidence in the Delaware market,” David W. Stonesifer, Herbein partner and CEO, said in a statement.
Kook highlighted how the merger will enhance their ability to better support clients:
“Herbein’s depth of knowledge, experience and resources will allow us to better serve our clients and enhance our current service offerings. By joining forces with Herbein, we can offer new opportunities for our people to learn and develop professionally alongside the firm’s exceptional team and broad client base,” he said in a statement.
While terms of the agreement have not been disclosed, Milton emphasized that culture was a key factor in the decision to join Herbein.
“Although Herbein continues to drive success nationally and internationally, it is also well known for its focus on supporting the communities where its teams live and work,” Milton said in a statement. “After more than 100 years in business, we knew the ‘fit’ had to be perfect for our team, our clients, and our community — and we are confident joining Herbein gives our clients the edge they need to grow their businesses and stay competitive in today’s dynamic business environment.”
Herbein Partner and Chief Financial Officer Joseph J. Witkowski, played a key role in the acquisition process, the company said.
“With Herbein and Bumpers & Co. joining forces, we see incredible opportunity for our team members and clients,” Witkowski said in a statement.
